Things Only Dog Owners Understand

There are two kinds of people in this world, dog people…and everyone else.

I literally love my dogs more than people most of the time, and I’m not sorry about it. Being a dog mom is just about the best thing I’ve ever done – and they’ve taught me some important lessons in life like to take more walks, enjoy the little things, smile more, and always find time for naps.

If you’re a fellow dog parent, there are just some things you understand, that the rest of the non-dog-owning world (aka: sad people) doesn’t understand.

1. Dog hair is everywhere. Accept it.

2. You will never eat alone again.

3. You will never pee alone again.

4. You will basically never do anything alone again, ever.

5. You’ll never understand how your dog can LOVE the water, and hate it at the same time.

6. Spilling something while cooking is no big deal, you have an automatic vacuum cleaner. Who needs a Roomba?

7. You will never (never EVER) see as much happiness as when your dog gets a new squeaky toy.

8. When someone is talking about their dog you’re not listening because you’re too busy scrolling through your phone for a picture of your dog.

9. There is no moving a comfortable/tired dog.

10. You’ve accepted the fact that there are dog beds in the living room and bedroom, no matter how much they clash with the decor.

11. Picking up poop in a bag and then carrying it around with you should seem weird…but it doesn’t.

12. They are weird, and you dig it.

13. If it’s physically impossible, they’ll figure out how to do it.

14. They are ABSOLUTELY part of the family.

15. There is no love purer than the love a dog has.

If you’re a dog owner, what are some things to add to the list? If you’re not a dog owner…then..well, I’m sorry about that. Life must be dull.
