I took a quick weekend trip to NYC again this weekend with Michael. He had an appointment to get his suit from the J.Crew Ludlow Shop in Tribeca, and we decided to make a weekend out of it. We used the excuse of “pre-wedding honeymoon.” Despite the fact that we had pretty miserable weather: cold, wet, rainy, windy – we made the most of the weekend.
We stay at The Roxy Hotel in Tribeca, which is currently my new favorite hotel in NYC. They even gave us a free glass of champagne at check-in, that’s my kind of place. The hotel itself also had a hip restaurant with live music and a DJ, a nice little bar just off the side, a small intimate movie theatre, and a Jazz club in the basement. Plus, it’s location right in the heart of Tribeca is hard to beat.
We got Michael his suit for the big day (guys I might be biased but he’s gunna be so handsome!) and wandered around the rest of the night ending up at a place called Peasants for dinner, which does old school Medieval food in a sort of modern way. It was amazing.
Ok, onto what I wore, this is my rainy day outfit. Dressing for wind and rain is never simple. I started with ripped jeans and a military-style jacket from Marshalls. Then, to give it a more feminine feel, I paired it with this soft tank top from Lord and Taylor (check out my Lord and Taylor coupons here), and some hot pink flats from Oka-B. These flats are also made of a jelly material so they don’t get wet and soggy when walking around in the rain. And, to combat the wind and rain on my hair, I grabbed a hat to avoid the “wet-dog” look – this one is from the Brooklyn Hat Co.
These Oka-B Taylor Flats were the perfect shoe for long days in NYC. They come in tons of colors (I’m wearing Princess Pink here, great for spring) making them easy to match with any outfit, but are also insanely comfortable made with a gentle massaging arch on the sole. Not to mention, they are made with splash-proof jelly which is easy to clean, ideal for the city – and made them the perfect “rainy day” shoe!
