Location: Mystic, Connecitcut
This past weekend we visited Mystic, CT for lunch and stopped by a new bar that had just opened up. Mystic was a seaport in colonial Connecticut and is now home to the nation’s largest maritime museum. The downtown is scattered with many shops and local restaurants making it a tourist destination pretty much year-round but specifically in the summer.
Slightly misinformed on how hot it’d be out that day I wore this awesome blue- green lace romper with my favorite lace-up flats.
After lunch at Red 36 in the Marina, we walked over to the recently opened M Bar. A restored gas station that offers coffee, wine, craft cocktails and small plates. I just love the idea of taking something unlikely like and old gas station and making it into a posh bar. With blue velvet booths and Edison lights galore, the M Bar is the perfect mix of elegant and hip. Oh, and let’s just talk about their cocktail menu for a second.
Try, for example, Bar Tabac made with local basil, cucumber, Ketel One, Creme De Pamplemousse liqueur, topped with Muddlerbosch rose. Or, if you’re more of a Negroni person, try their 44 1/2 with Campari, Bombay Gin, Noilly Prat Sweet Vermouth shaken with basil and pink peppercorn.
M Bar is an awesome addition to the always growing list of great eats and drinks in Mystic, Connecticut. If you find yourself in town some of my other favorites include:
-For food and cocktails: The Engine Room
-For coffee and dessert try: Anthony J’s
-For cupcakes: Lis Bake Shop
-Food or drinks with a view: Red 36
-Pizza: Pizzetta
