Hello Friends! Today I have a fun DIY post for you. I had an old oversized t-shirt laying around and while I thought the text was cute, the size and shape most certainly wasn’t! I’ve tried altering tees into tanks before but they never came out right until I came across this racerback style!
So, let me share with you how you can turn any oversize t-shirt into a hi-low racerback tank top!
1. You’ll need a shirt, a good pair of scissors (and if you’re like me a beer always helps when crafting)
2. Cut off the hemline along the bottom of the shirt and hang on to it, you’ll use it later. Also cut off the sleeves.
3. Cut the desired neckline and in the back cut a deep V.
4. Using the hemline from the bottom of the t-shirt you will gather the back straps and tie a knot. Wrap the hemline down about 6-8 inches and tie off again.
5. Viola!
For a more detailed explanation, or just to make my day, watch my first every youtube video tutorial! I was pretty nervous to make my first video, it’s so much different than the comfort of my blog! I hope you enjoy!
And if you have videos on YouTube leave me your YT name so we can be friends over there too!!
Have you ever altered a t-shirt into a tank top? How’d it go? (I must confess I’ve done this before unsuccessfully, the racerback style is the only one that works for me!)
