Summer is definitely in full swing here in Connecticut and I’m digging it. I love being able to wake up in the morning and not needing to worry about the temperature and whether or not I need to be layered up. This past weekend Michael I went out just to stroll around downtown and enjoy the summer sunshine.
While I definitely love the warmer weather we’ve been having, no one wants to be too hot in the summer. When the weather gets extra hot I tend to gravitate to certain pieces in my wardrobe that breath, helping me stay a lot cooler. I’ve found that my favorite pieces for the summer heat are usually cotton. It’s amazing how much more comfortable the right fabrics can make you feel and so it makes sense that cotton is perfect for summer: it’s the most breathable fabric that there is. The shorts I’m wearing here are 100% cotton. Not only are they crazy comfortable and well-made, they are super breathable. They prevent me from having to worry about feeling hot and sweaty during the day, and allow me to feel cooler throughout the day.
Also, on a slight side note, one of my favorite things about the changing seasons is switching to summer drinks! My usual go-to is an iced black coffee or iced Americano. And, if I’m not having coffee, I LOVE iced mint tea! What’s everyone’s favorite summer coffee order?
For lunch, we stopped by Johhny Ad’s – a local food shack. This place has been around since 1957 and is everyone’s favorite weekend seafood shack. It’s the perfect stop for lobster rolls, grilled hot dogs, fried shrimp, and cold bottles of beer.
I opted for a lobster roll, served cold, and dug right in. Nothing says New England summer like a cold lobster roll, french fries, and sunshine, am I right?

Because I know cotton is perfect for the summer heat, I’m joining up with them for their #CoolerInCotton campaign this summer. This summer, Cotton is releasing a new music video that talks about how hot, sweaty summers can be avoided by simply wearing cotton!
